I&C DESIGN AND MODERNISATION
Steam Turbine and Plant Control
Ansaldo Energia has an exceptionally consolidated competence in designing, developing, manufacturing and commissioning Control Systems for Steam Turbines (STCS), Control, Monitoring and Protection Systems for gas turbines (GTCMPS), and Digital Control Systems for power plants (DCS).
Thanks to such an extensive competency, Ansaldo Energia can provide Integrated Solutions for the whole plant, running on one single platform (Symphony Harmony).
Ansaldo Energia has a 40 year experience in Service, Retrofit and Operation of various turbine/plant control technologies and structures of many different OEMs, complemented by a 30-year experience in design and laboratory dynamic simulations of turbine electronic control systems.
Ansaldo Energia’s I&C Solutions are particularly suited for upgrading and retrofitting those steam turbines still equipped with unreliable, inflexible speed/load mechanical controllers and protection systems, and with old generation supervisory systems. Besides, such outdated technologies do not satisfy the present international grid code requirements and therefore cannot participate to energy generation market.
Ansaldo Energia has specifically designed STCS solutions with digital, precise, reliable and completely automatic technology, managed from the control room.
Key Features
- Minimisation of cost and downtime
- Power Plant availability increase
- Guaranteed continuous, correct operation during all phases (start-up, shut-down, synchronisation, load rejection, frequency control, island operation, etc.)
- Built-in, fully automated tests
- Diagnostics of the entire system
- Remote Monitoring
- Optimal load generation
- Automatic run-up stress evaluator
- Plant safety and availability can be further enhanced by the introduction of the new generation Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation (TSI).
New monitoring and computerised vibration information systems allow to accurately assess, through an advanced operator interface, the mechanical conditions of the rotating machinery, based on continuous measurement and monitoring of bearing vibrations, absolute expansion, rotor/casing differential expansion, rotor eccentricity, etc.
Key Features
- Increased plant safety
- Improved product quality
- Maximised plant availability
- Minimised unplanned shutdowns
- Advanced diagnostics for predictive maintenance
Ansaldo Energia has upgraded 22 Control Systems and installed 33 Supervisory Systems.
